AMEB Qld is committed to providing inclusive and quality examinations for all candidates, including those with disabilities. We aim to provide all candidates with access to the examination process, so they can demonstrate their skills to the best of their ability to ensure they participate on the same basis as their similar-aged peers. AMEB Qld provides an environment that is safe, supportive and free from discrimination.
While AMEB Qld provides reasonable adjustments tailored to meet their individual needs, all candidates will be assessed against the same examining standards as set out in the
Manual of Syllabuses.
AMEB Qld must be advised of the candidate's special needs in writing at the time of enrolment on the enrolment form, or as soon as practicable after that time if a condition becomes apparent or worsens.
Current medical documentation of the candidate's disability/medical condition must be provided to AMEB Qld on enrolment, and must have been issued in the same calendar year as the candidate's examination.
A request for individual needs must be submitted for each examination for which the candidate enrols.
At the time of enrolment, the candidate (if they are over 18 years) or their parent/guardian must confirm, by ticking the relevant box, on the enrolment form that they give permission for the candidate's individual needs to be provided to the examiner and other relevant AMEB Qld staff.
Visual impairment
Practical examination candidates with vision impairments have the option of completing either sight-reading for the grade they are completing, or aural tests from one grade higher. If candidates choose to undertake the sight-reading, a number of procedures will apply. Please contact the AMEB Qld State Office for more information on these procedures.
Written examination candidates with vision impairments should contact the AMEB Qld State Office to discuss their requirements and reasonable adjustments.
